Brian Cardin PT, C.Ped., Co-Owner of Cardin and Miller PTBrian Cardin PT, C.Ped., Co-Owner of Cardin and Miller PT

Brian has been practicing Physical Therapy since 1994. Most of his therapy career has been spent in Central Pennsylvania, with a 2 year hiatus in Central Ohio. His undergraduate schooling was done locally at Central Penn College, Slippery Rock University, and Penn State at Harrisburg. His Professional training as a Physical Therapist was completed at the University of Findlay, in Findlay,Ohio. He received his Pedorthics training (C.Ped.) at Temple University's School of Podiatric Medicine.

The bulk of his therapy career has consisted of outpatient orthopedic care in the private practice setting. Brian has extensive experience working with clients with a variety of orthopedic ailments ranging from foot pain to jaw problems. His particular area of interest however, is working with clients with foot and lower extremity dysfunction. By combining his experience as a Physical Therapist (to assess and impact biomechanics throughout the kinetic chain), and his experience as a pedorthist (to identify and implement footwear and/or orthotic needs), he is able to provide a unique service to our clients. Cardin & Miller Physical Therapy has associated themselves with Dutrey's Shoes and Appalachian Running Co. to offer a full-service pedorthic center.

On a personal note, Brian lives in Mechanicsburg with his wife Nikki and their two daughters, Rileigh and Reagan. Brian enjoys running and biking for exercise and spending family time with his girls! Brian and his family are looking forward to being an active part in the Carlisle and neighboring communities for many years to come.

Steve Miller PT, C.Ped., Co-owner of Cardin and Miller PTSteve Miller PT, C.Ped., Co-Owner of Cardin and Miller PT

For the past 12 years, Steve has been practicing outpatient, orthopedic physical therapy in the Central Pennsylvania region. His academic history includes undergraduate work at Central Pennsylvania College, and Lock Haven University, as well as graduate studies at the University of Findlay in Ohio. Steve has been to more that 20 continuing education courses during that span with the focus being Orthopedic, Sports, Spinal (McKenzie neck and back treatment), and foot and ankle injuries.

Steve has spent all of the past 12 years in and outpatient, orthopedic private practice setting. During the past 5 years, he has served as a Clinical Director. Steve's area of expertise is orthopedic and athletic rehabilitation. He utilizes a combination of McKenzie, manual therapies, and functional exercise in the treatment of clients with all types of spinal, upper and lower extremity, and sports related dysfunctions. Steve has worked with the local middle and high school programs as well as local middle age athletes to assist them in achieving their goal of returning to pre-injury performance levels.

On a personal level, Steve lives in Lemoyne with his wife Megan, his son Gavin, and dog Cosmo. Steve and his family are looking forward to contributing to the well-being of the Carlisle and surrounding communities for years to come.

AndrewAndrew Zang, DPT

Andrew joined the Cardin & Miller staff in 2008. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh's Doctor of Physical Therapy program. While at Pitt, Andrew received extensive orthopedic and manual therapy training. He also had the opportunity to complete a clinical rotation at the UPMC Sportsmedicine Center. His primary area of interest is in treating patients with low back and neck issues.

Andrew completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh. While at Pitt, he competed in track and field and cross country for the Panthers. He was named to the Big East Conference Academic All-Star team in each of his four years. As a senior, Andrew was awarded a Senior Distinction award for his achievement in both academics and athletics.

Andrew grew up in Central PA and was a 2001 graduate of Cumberland Valley. He and his wife, Allison, returned to Central PA and now reside in Mechanicsburg. In his free time, Andrew enjoys running and weight training. He looks forward to the opportunity to treat patients with orthopedic and neuromuscular related disorders in this area.

Amanda Steele, Physical Therapist AssistantAmanda Steele, PTA

Amanda has been practicing as a Physical Therapist Assistant since 2002. After graduating from Central Pennsylvania College and passing her state licensure exam the same year, she focused her career on outpatient orthopedics. Her continuing education background includes the use of functional exercise to treat complex musculoskeletal injuries and the implementation of myofascial techniques. She has been an integral full-time member of the Cardin & Miller team since April 2006.

Amanda lives in Mechanicsburg and in her spare time enjoys reading, watching "Top Chef", and spending time with her family and friends.

Amy Schach

Amy has been working with Cardin & Miller Physical Therapy for the past two and a half years. She has a background education from Eastern College and the Pennsylvania School of Massage Therapy. Amy's career began in the healthcare industry with a leading area orthopedic surgeon and was further fostered by association with a physical therapy practice. Her experience provided her with a position as a surgical pre and post operative technician, ABO certified optician and billing specialist for a leading area medical practice for eight years. Amy, therefore, continues to provide Cardin & Miller Physical Therapy in using her academic, professional and caring mannerism as an Assistant Adminstrator to optimize benefits for all involved.

Matt Casale, PTAMatt Casale, PTA

Matt currently is pursuing his doctorate in physical therapy at St. Francis University. At the clinic, Matt uses his degree from Central Pennsylvania College as a physical therapist assistant. Although the youngest member of the staff, Matt is definitely the strongest, as he spends countless hours lifting weights and sparring. Matt is also a local boy, as he graduated from Cumberland Valley High School in 2001. When home from college Matt is an honorary member of the Cardin and Miller flag football and rec basketball teams.

Sue Stum, PTA

Sue joined the Cardin & Miller staff in October of 2009. Sue is not a new-comer to the working world or the post-secondary education arena. She most recently graduated from Central Pennsylvania College and passed the licensure exam to become a physical therapist assistant. She has also recently received her Master's of Education in Sport Management with a coaching concentration from Millersville University. Before deciding to pursue her physical therapy education, Sue taught high school health and physical education for six years. Along with her teaching, she also coached college track and field at Gettysburg College, high school field hockey and track and field (serving as head coach at Middletown Area High School from '04-'07) and middle school field hockey. During her collegiate career, Sue excelled in sprinting and competed for Slippery Rock University as well as Liberty University.

When Sue is not working in the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Ben and their adorable dog Rascal. She also enjoys and excels at athletics of all types, teaching adult Sunday school at church and makes a mean apple pie!! On a personal note, Sue and Ben are currently providing foster care for a little girl in their Etters home.

Matt HenningerMatt Henninger

Matt grew up in the Carlisle area and played basketball at Carlisle High School where he graduated in 2003. After high school, he attended Messiah College and graduated with honors in 2007 with a degree in Biology. Mat played basketball during his careera ta Messiah and maintains several three point shooting records. After college he organized and participated in a cross-country bicycle trip that raised money for Mennonite Disaster Sercive. Along with seeing the country, he was able to spend a lot of time thinking about what he wanted to pursue in life. This led Mat to joining the staff at Cardin & Miller in the fall of 2008. He is currently in the process of applying for entrance into a Doctor of Physical Therapy program and hopes to begin in the fall of 2009. Mat is also a knowledgable and trustworthy running shoe specialist and sales person with Appalachian Running Company.

Yvonne Carlin

Yvonne joined the Cardin & Miller Physical Therapy team back in January 2007. Before coming to work at our front office, Yvonne was a patient in our clinic. Yvonne has had a variety of different jobs ranging from managerial positions to driving a school bus, all of which has prepared her to handle the variety of tasks associated with her current position. Yvonne is our, shall we say, "seasoned" team member that keeps all the rest of the staff in line. . . or at least attempts to :)

Yvonne is married to Flip and when she is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her six grandchildren, reading and swimming.

Tom CashmanTom Cashman, CO; ABC/BOC Certified Orthotist

After a 21 year hiatus, Mr. Cashman has returned to his roots in the Carlisle area. Tom's resume includes education from West Chester University and a degree from the University of Maryland, with professional training through the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.and the Pittsburgh Institute of Technology.

Tom's career has been a patient-oriented one, with athletic trainer, kinesiologist, and ABC/BOC Orthotist being the career paths he chose. Starting in 1981, Tom restored wellness to Veterans, as he worked in facilities in Lebanon and Coatesville PA, as well as Asheville, NC. His primary interest was in diabetic foot care as well as orthotics and prosthetics.

Starting in 1997, Tom continued working in Asheville with Skyland Prosthetics and Orthotics. In this chapter, Tom continued work with diabetics and other wound patients. Asheville was good to Tom, as his reputation for quality worked grew. Tom has relocated back to Carlisle and brings 25 years experience to Cardin and Miller. Tom offers custom shoes, diabetic footwear as well as services to those with all types of lower extremity orthotics and partial foot orthotics.

Tom is also a pretty neat guy who enjoys the outdoors and spends as much time as possible with his wife Wendy and his trusty dog, Chloe.

Jennifer HenchJennifer Hench/Transcriptionist and Front Desk

Jennifer just recently joined the Cardin & Miller Physical Therapy group in January 2009. She had previously worked at Rite Aid Corporation for five years as a customer service representative. Jennifer's past work experience has helped her become very efficient in our transcription department. When not typing letters to our referring physicians, Jennifer is lending a helping hand to the front desk staff. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her fiance' Chad, their beautiful twin boys, Colton and Joseph and her six year old step-son, Kadin. Jennifer and Chad are expecting an addition to their family sometime in September of this year!
