Testimonials

I would like to make you aware that I am the kind of shopper that is always aware of sales gimmicks, but my experience at Cardin & Miller Physical Therapy, Appalachian Running Co. and Dutrey's Shoes was NO gimmick and was definitely for my health and so conveniently located all under one roof.

So, just let me share my story with you. I have very low arches in my feet and like my Mom used to say, "you are as flat-footed as a monkey" and I was experiencing such pain in my right ankle area that is was difficult for me to walk. I went into Dutrey's Shoes to purchase a pair of summer sandals with the best support possible.

I was greeted by an elderly salesman and I shared my concerns with him and he suggested that I make an appointment with Cardin & Miller Physical Therapy to have their experts evaluate my individual situation. The salesman was so kind and escorted me through to the receptionist, Yvonne, and she was such a pleasure. I returned a few days later for my first appointment and was assigned to Steve Miller. He took his time and explained what the problem was with my ankle, an estimate of the healing progression period and projected when I could wear summer sandals. After he finished, I had a good idea about what had to be done and when I could reach my goal.

Steve highly recommended that I purchase a pair of sneakers that would give better support for my individual problem even though he told me that I was wearing a very good sneaker but I could have better support. I went to Appalachian Running Co and I was fitted wonderfully with exactly what I needed. I made subsequent appointments with the physical therapists and it was not long that I could tell that the therapy was showing positive signs. All of a sudden, I realized that I could actually walk on the right foot normally. Many times I was assigned to another therapist and they were all nice and never made me feel like I should be able to "already" do a particular exercise, instead we would just laugh together. Sometimes, I could see that the environment got very busy for the therapists, but that did not hinder their detailed work with me. Steve told me that he does not recommend orthotics for all of his patients but he thought that I could really benefit from them.

I had my foot impressions made (I almost fell asleep during this activity) and eventually I received my orthotics and they were Heaven! What I was missing all this time and I never knew it! Eventually, Steve decreased my appointments and game me his professional opinion that I could purchase a pair of sandals that would give me the most possible support. I was happy that my appointments had come to an end, but at the same time it felt sort of like I was walking away from a family that I enjoyed.

You probably guessed it, I returned to Dutrey's Shoes to shop for what I originally wanted to purchase. I had Mrs. Dutrey and again, this sounds like a broken record, but I had the 1970's personal service. It was professional and time consuming service that she gave. I purchased my sandals and I have enjoyed them even during these warm days of November that we are having.

I want to add that Yvonne and Jennifer worked with my insurance and allowed me to pay the balance after Cardin & Miller received payment and I never felt pressured. All of the PTs were a joy and that is what the patients need during times like these.

Sincerely,

Joanne B. Carlisle, PA
